Guide
Fertility tests before IVF
Before planning IVF, clinics usually review history and run tests so the plan fits your situation. Exact panels differ by clinic and person. This guide lists common categories. Best IVF Centers does not order tests, store reports, or interpret results.
Why testing comes first
Tests help estimate ovarian response patterns, check the uterus and tubes when needed, and assess semen. Skipping a work-up can lead to cycles that do not address the main issue. Your doctor decides what is necessary.
Blood tests you may hear about
Hormone panels (for example related to ovarian reserve or thyroid) are commonly discussed. Names and timing (day of cycle) vary. We intentionally do not collect AMH or other lab values on the matching form.
Ultrasound and cavity checks
Ultrasound can look at ovaries and uterus. Some people need further cavity assessment before transfer. These procedures are clinic-led with their own consent and fees.
Tubal and male evaluation
Tubal tests and semen analysis are often part of a full work-up when pregnancy has not occurred. Results steer IUI versus IVF conversations. See our male infertility guide for a patient-friendly overview of semen testing.
Infection and general health screens
Clinics may screen for infections required before procedures and review general fitness for anaesthesia or pregnancy attempts. Bring prior records to avoid duplicate tests when appropriate.
