Is mild cramping normal after embryo transfer?
I had FET three days ago. I feel mild lower abdominal cramps like period pain. No heavy bleeding. Is this implantation or a bad sign?
Short answer: Mild period-like cramps are common after transfer and can relate to the procedure, progesterone, or early implantation. Severe, one-sided, or worsening pain with dizziness needs urgent review.
Answer #1
Mild cramps are often expected
The transfer catheter, a full bladder during the procedure, and progesterone can all cause pelvic awareness. Mild cramping does not confirm pregnancy and does not mean the embryo has failed. Rest, hydration, and your clinic's activity advice are usually enough.

Answer #2
When cramps are not reassuring
Pain that stops you walking, pain focused on one side, pain with shoulder-tip pain, fainting, or heavy bleeding needs same-day assessment to rule out complications including ectopic pregnancy later in the wait. Do not wait for the beta if red-flag symptoms appear.

- Severe or one-sided pain

- Heavy bleeding
- Fever
