Do I need bed rest after IUI?
After IUI the nurse asked me to lie down for 10 minutes. Relatives say I should rest in bed for 2 days. What is actually recommended?
Short answer: A brief rest in the clinic is common. Prolonged bed rest at home after IUI is not required for success and can increase stress. Light daily activity is usually fine unless your doctor gives specific restrictions.
Answer #1
Sperm move quickly
Prepared sperm reach the tubes within minutes. Lying flat for days does not meaningfully improve implantation odds after IUI. Short post-procedure rest mainly helps comfort and spotting observation.

Answer #2
Sensible activity
Avoid very strenuous workouts or heavy lifting the same day if you feel crampy. You can usually work, walk and do routine tasks. Focus energy on taking prescribed luteal medicines if any and attending the pregnancy test on the correct day.
