Do CoQ10 and other supplements really help fertility?
Friends suggested CoQ10, vitamin D, myo-inositol and DHEA before IVF. Which have evidence, and can supplements replace treatment?
Short answer: Some supplements help selected groups—vitamin D if deficient, myo-inositol in many PCOS patients, CoQ10 sometimes discussed for egg or sperm quality—but none replace indicated fertility treatment. Avoid starting DHEA without specialist advice.
Answer #1
Use labs to guide vitamins
Correcting vitamin D deficiency is reasonable and common in India. Start folic acid before conception as advised. Mega-doses of fat-soluble vitamins are not better. Bring your full list to the clinic—online Ayurvedic mixes can interfere with treatment.

Answer #2
Targeted supplements vs internet stacks
Myo-inositol is often used in PCOS for metabolic and ovulatory support. CoQ10 is discussed for ovarian ageing and male factor with mixed but promising data. DHEA is not for everyone and alters hormones. A short clinic-approved list beats an expensive unmonitored stack.

Call your clinic or go to the hospital the same day if you have
- Allergic reaction to a supplement
- Jaundice or severe abdominal pain after new herbs
- Interactions if you take blood thinners or hormones
Want help finding a clinic?
Get matched to one ART-registered clinic after consent — not a directory of calls.
Answers are general education for patients in India, not a diagnosis or personal medical advice. Best IVF Centers is a fertility matching service, not a clinic or hospital. Always follow your treating doctor's instructions. In an emergency, go to the nearest hospital.
